Non-stop bites all day long! That's how I'd sum up our summer fishing adventure with Erlin and their crew out of Manteo, NC. We set out early in the morning from Salty Charters, ready to explore the rich waters around Roanoke Island. The day greeted us with clear conditions, perfect for spotting fish and enjoying our time on the water. As we cruised out from 1205 North Hwy, the anticipation was building for what promised to be an exciting day of inshore fishing.

Once the stage was set, we got down to business, employing a mix of techniques to target the local species. We started with some bottom fishing, which proved effective in the shallow inshore waters. As the day progressed, we switched things up, trying our hand at live bait fishing and even doing some trolling. The variety kept things interesting and allowed us to cover more ground. Our persistence paid off when Erlin's crew hooked into a monster Redfish. After an impressive fight, we brought the beauty on board, measuring in at a whopping 37 inches! It was definitely a highlight of our trip with Salty Charters.

The action didn't stop there. We also managed to land some feisty Bluefish, with the largest coming in at 23 inches. These hard-fighting fish provided some great sport and kept the rods bent throughout the day. As we worked different spots around Roanoke Island, we found success with each technique we tried. The clear conditions allowed us to spot fish easily, making for some exciting sight fishing opportunities. We wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, having experienced some of the best inshore fishing Manteo has to offer.

We started with some surf fishing, taking advantage of the clear conditions to spot potential hotspots from the shore. As the day progressed, we moved to pier fishing, which often yields great results in this area. We rounded out our approach with some inshore fishing, really giving Stephen a comprehensive Manteo fishing experience. Throughout the day, we kept our lines wet and spirits high, enjoying the summer weather and the thrill of the chase. The inshore season is back in full swing and anglers are exploring the Roanoke, Croatan Sound and beyond for redfish, trout, striped bass—and bluefish! Otherwise take on 30 lb smoker kings off the beach.

Capt. John Speener is a lifelong fisherman, who grew up on the coast of North Carolina and has been fishing since he was a kid. He loves the open water, and he's always ready to take you out on the water for an afternoon of fun or a day of relaxation. Capt. John will make every effort to ensure that you have a great day of fishing. Depending on the time of year and the weather, these trips can last anywhere from 5 to 13 hours and target fish like Redfish, Cobia, Black Drum, Gag Grouper, Dolphin, Bluefish, Marlin, Bass, Amberjack, Bonito, Almaco Jack, and African Pompano. A range of methods, including bottom fishing, trolling, big game fishing, jigging and spinning on light and heavy tackle, as well as spearfishing, can be expected. Your boat of the day is a 23' Sportsmen center console that can safely take up to 6 anglers. It has a 250 HP Yamaha engine, GPS, fishfinder, and VHF radio electronics. There is also a livewell for your catch! With this trip, you can let the fishing experts do all the work. You'll get all the rods, reels, and terminal tackle you need to catch your limit of fish, so you can focus on what really matters—catching them! Your trip will include all the necessary fishing licenses for the day. All you need to bring are drinks and snacks, and you're good to go!
